The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
United Methodist Women offers every woman in the church the opportunity to belong – to be a part of something important ( a movement, an enterprise, an asssociation) which she sees as worthwhile, worthy of her time, her money, her interest and concern. She may belong if she indicates a desire to participate in the work and the program of The United Methodist Women, by one or more of the ways that are open to her for mission in and through the organization, such as prayer, giving, study, and active service. Our local Unit has two sub-groups or “Circles”:
“Women Active In Christian Service” (W.A.C.S.) which meets at the church on the 2nd Wednesday of each month for a “sack lunch” possible hands-on mission projects & research & planning fo other mission projects for the future. Brenda Winder and Pat Edwards are co-chairs for this group.
The “Alice Circle” meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month for brunch at 10:00 a.m. usually in homes or at the church according to hostesses wishes. Nancy Rucker is Chair.
The Unit or “business meeting” is held each first Tuesday of each month at 12:30 in the Cleveland United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Salad & dessert is provided by hostesses & attendees may bring a sandwish if they so desire. The purpose of this meeting is to hear committee reports and conduct necessary business while informing members of various projects of The National Women’s Division . Carol Albertus is the Unit President.
The Executive Cmmittee meets at 11:30 preceding the Business meeting each month.
No meetings are held in July or August unless called by the Chairpersons.
